Review content:
I have had a fantastic experience with Nevada Student Care. I first got involved with them several years ago, when I got custody of a 5 year-old girl. At that time, the state had a grant that paid for tutoring for children that were in protective care or foster care. She was two years behind when she started going to them. Later, she stopped going for about six months, until I got complete custody of her. Once she was in my custody, she continuously went to them. They really helped her out with math, English, and science. Her proficiency in those subjects improved drastically, thanks to Nevada Student Care. She stopped going to them last year, when she graduated high school. She graduated at the top of her class and she is currently attending CSN Community College, majoring in Criminal Justice.
I have another foster girl, and I have already set up an appointment with Dave to have her evaluated. I like them because they truly care about the kids' education and about them as individuals. The people would constantly keep me updated on progress made, were personable, and were very professional. In addition, the pricing was very reasonable. I tried Silvan back when my own daughter was in school, and their services were just very expensive and my kid did not receive as much attention.
In addition to personally using them for my foster kids, I have had the opportunity to work with Nevada Student Care through my job. I am a Community Program Specialist with the Las Vegas Stupak Community Center. Some time back, we received a $5,000 grant and we used it to have Nevada Student Care come out to our facility and tutor fifteen kids. We are in the process of seeking more grant funding so that we can continue the tutoring program with them, because they truly make a difference.
