You're probably never going to get something terrible from Yajai and sometimes you might get something great; you just don't know. Most recently I've noticed that the food had tended towards the overly sweet side. Curries like Panang or Massaman are already sweet, so the added sugar just takes away from their appeal. The green papaya salad is pretty good, if a somewhat Americanized. I love it. (I just wish there was more papaya and less iceberg lettuce in it). Prices are okay, but not great. Since it is mainly a take-away place, I think the prices are a little on the high side especially for Astoria. Other Thai restaurants in the vicinity have similar prices and much nicer sit-down facilities. The staff is friendly. It would be fabulous if there's more consistency in the menu. I've had some problems with delivery though, when I would call and they were out of virtually everything. Then they would call me back to tell me they were out of my 2nd choice too. Don't know what's going on there. Pros: Papaya salad, friendly staff Cons: Inconsistency, over-sweetness & under-spiced
