Review content:
The former Manetas diner has spruced itself up nice. I use to come here as a teenager every week end night. Sitting there for hours eating what ever we could afford. Back then we never really cared about the quality of the product. We were teenagers and just wanting a place to hang out. Since Manetas was a 24 hour diner, it served that purpose well. Since then it like I said it has done a complete renovation of the place. Including a name change from Manetas to The Broad Street Diner, and a some what rehab of the menu. Most of the staple diner food has remained, but their prices have become slightly higher. Not so much that its really noticeable. Just enough to stay competitive with the other diners in the area. I really don't know when this change occurred but this has been my first time visiting since it happen. Along for the experience was my friend Kevin. We went around 8pm on a Saturday and the place was packed, which didn't really surprise me at all. We were seated at a small 2 top table, squished in between a old couple and some Spanish speaking men. For a big person not all that fun. The server came over and got our drink order of sprite and water. Then came back about 5 minutes later for our food order. I got a jalapeno poppers and a grill cheese, and told the server bring it all at once. He choose to ignore this request, but it was a good thing he did. Our table was to small to really accommodate both apps and entrees at the same time. Kev ordered the Philly Cheese steak wrap, and got a bowl of potato soup, which according to the server was "" actually good today"". "" So is it not good other days"" I asked in return. I got a laugh and then he walked away. That build confidence in the product right there. The food came out really fast which I was surprised of. I am suspecting the poppers were frozen, but they still tasted quite good. My grill cheese was just plain and really had no taste, or the poppers were still dominating my mouth. There wasn't anything wrong with it. Plus it is really hard to mess up grill cheese other then burning it. Which they thankfully didn't do. Kevin seemed okay with his selection. He is a fast food junkie so I really didn't ask what he thought about his meal. But he seemed to be pleased with it. Towards the end of the meal I asked for another sprite. I don't know if he had to wrestle a death match to get my sprite, but it took 15 minutes to get. The sprite problem and the cramp table/seating was the only real bad part of the trip. The food was good so The Broad Street Diner is Fat Kid tested Fat Kid Approved. Just would like to remind them that fat kids don't like small areas. As always stay peckish my friends
