Review content:
I just love the Royal Cafe. The Americana decorating the place is amusing, it's got a cool diner feel, and the food is honest good food. I am especially fond of scrambled eggs Solano (Not the exact name), with dried tomato, spinach, mozzarella, and their omelettes aren't those fluffy blenderized concoctions, but big hearty, perfectly cooked eggs with substantial fillings of all kinds. They crisp the home fries perfectly, but if you can't eat potatoes, they'll sub some fruit, which I appreciate. The eggs blackstone is sinful, as it should be, and they use excellent applewood smoked bacon and the hollandaise taste almost light, even though you know it's heart-stopping. I am grateful that Royal is one of the places I go where they'll give you a half order (doesn't save much money, but it sure saves calories!) The buckwheat pancakes are absolutely delicious, and are very filling. They also serve a freshly made fruit salad, not cheap, but a substantial serving of seasonal fruits, cut to order. Bottomless cups of good strong coffee are a plus, as is their use of vital vittles whole wheat toast. They also serve good lunch standards, hamburgers, ham and cheese sandwiches, etc. Nothing to write home about, but good and keeping with their dineresque appeal. Pros: Hearty breakfast w/ some innovative scrambles and yummy omelettes. Ample parking. Cons: Peak hrs/weekends are crowded, with a wait. Service is friendly, but unreliable.
