Review content:
We've been to Sandia twice this month from Denver. The drive is decent especially when you make a stop in either Taos or Santa Fe. The property is way north of Albuquerque and out in the open spaces at the foot of the Sandia Mountains. Beautiful grounds with a well appointed hotel. The hotel rooms are spacious, nicely decorated without being knocked over by Southwestern stuff. The casino is typical - slots, blackjack, and poker. The staff in the casino are friendly and helpful. Skip dining in the buffet. The steak house is really good. The best prime rib I think I've ever had. We had drinks at the roof-top bar at sunset and it was lovely. We haven't tried the restaurant up there yet - maybe next time. We ordered room service for some of our meals and it was quick, delicious and well presented. Most of the hotel staff are friendly, but sadly not too efficient. The spa is nice and worth the $15 a day charge if you're not that much into gambling. Avoid any of the ""services"" however. My manicure chipped way too quickly. The only thing keeping this place from being a perfect stay would be the front desk. Do whatever you have to do to avoid them. Each time we delt with them - we were disappointed. We had some minor questions about the room and they couldn't be bothered. When we wanted to stay an additional night they made us feel like we've overstayed our welcome. Too bad.
Pros: decent location, beautiful pool and golf area, yummy steakhouse, quick room service
Cons: the front desk staff
