Philip Marie is truly one of those great dining destinations you simply want the world to know about. In the past five years I have dined here on at least 25 occasions, each time with a guest or a group -- and every single person has fallen in love. You can't go wrong with dinner here -- and PM also boasts probably the best Sunday Jazz Brunch in downtown NYC (I'm a big bruncher and have been many, many places). Exec Chef John Greco's menu boasts 'Innovative American Cusine' and that's definitively what it is -- it's an expansive menu with ever-changing daily specials and the fish and fowl dishes are incomparable. I had never tried elk prior to dining here (or wild boar) and each was simply outstanding. Two dishes NOT to be missed are the fried green tomatoes w/ spicy mayonnaise -- a lovely, flavorful rustic appetizer -- and the pumpkin fritters w/ warm wet walnuts (John's own creation + recipe). If you're a big fan of Sunday brunch, you MUST visit PM for their unlimited Bloody Mary Sunday jazz brunch -- it's simply the best in the West Village and probably one of the best bangs for your buck, ever -- $19.95 that is more than well-spent. The bunch selection menu alone parallels Homer's Illyiad in size, from standard brunch fare to PM originals like the delicious lobster fajita (warning: HUGE). And the bloody marys are some of the best made. Staff and service at PM are thorough, efficient without being too much in your face.
