Review content:
We went to Tall Oaks years ago when it was owned by my cousin's family. It was a well loved place by those in the neighborhood. We were very sad when it closed because the seafood was more how a native Marylander expects their seafood to be prepared. When Tall Oaks was reopened and a BmoreBargains was offered, we thought we would give the new restaurant a chance, even though after reading the new menu we were a little apprehensive since there was a new spin on the majority of the food. Nothing to worry about there.....that's just an improvement! We were totally surprised tonight with the new Tall Oaks. Decor was classy upon entering, but somehow the restaurant has retained the neighborhood/casual, yet very classy feel. Menu has been revamped while retaining some of the old favorites. We decided to be adventurous and try some of the newer foods. Hubby had a Mahi Mahi that was cooked in a light lemon sauce with Old Bay, served with rice and a vegetable medley. I had a Portabello Mushroom topped with a crabcake and a light Imperial Sauce, served with a vegetable medley and a side of shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Servers were all very friendly. Food is cooked to order and we liked that we were not rushed through our meal. Loved our meal so much that we decided to give dessert a chance and that turned out to be a winner as well. Definitely give the new Tall Oaks a try....we will be going back soon!
