After my experience with BOW, I will in the future always use a local bank. First, I spaced depositing my tenant's rent check. I realized this after a few days, and deposited it. In the meantime I bounced two checks. I did not receive a bounced check notice for 9 days! I looked at the zip code and realized the letter was sent from Hawaii! If I had not seen my tenant's check in my purse, you can imagine how financially devastating that could have been. Then, last week I deposited a large check. It was after 3:00 so the check went through the following day. No problem. That following day I had all my automatic withdrawals scheduled to come out, and some regular checks came through as well. The bank bounced everyone of them. I had $400 in fees. I questioned this, as my check I deposited was clearly in effect on that day. They explained to me that everything came out at 12:01 a.m. and deposits are not recorded until 9 a.m. (!!) So their definition of ""following day"" varies a lot. To make it perfectly clear, my check was deposited on the 16th, after 3:00, and the checks bounced on the 17th. I asked for the fees to be forgiven, as now my mortgage was going to bounce. No dice. Not one ounce of human compassion. It was like talking with a robot. I have never bounced any other checks with them other than when I forgot to deposit my tenant's check. I have never asked for forgiveness of fees before. Also, I had called them on the 16th to let them know I was bringing a check and to talk about all the withdrrawals coming out the next day, and no one returned my call. And another thing...they kept refusing payment of my automatic mortgage withdrawal, Every month for 3 months I had to talk with the mortgage company, get the late payment fees taken off, making sure they did not report me to the credit bureau, etc, try and convince them I DID have funds and it was the bank's fault. I spent hours with the mortgage company and the bank every month fixing the issue. Pros: I can ride my bike there Cons: Not a local bank, takes forever at the drive through even when there's no line
