Review content:
I joined the Freedom Boat Club over a year ago. The saleman made everything sound like a walk in the park. After paying several thousand dollars for the member initiation and paying a couple hundred dollars per month for membership fee, I began to discover otherwise. There are a limited number of boats to rent and difficult to get a boat when you want it. The management is extremely hard to get a hold of and the sweet lady that works the desk is like an intern who has limited knowledge of the business. Be sure to read the fine print in your contract. For example, I was told you can sell your membership to someone else and recoup your initiation fee. What the saleman failed to go over was the following that is in the contract: ""Membership being offered for sale cannot be marketed via the internet, craigslist, newspaper, radio, television or any other media. The membership cannot be sold to compete with existing boat club memberships."" So basically, you can't sell or transfer your membership anyway. Very shady and obviously not concerned with FBC members. You have to provide a 60 day cancellation notice so basically they hit you up for two months of fees before you are released. I highly recommend not joining a boat club like Freedom Boat Club. I'm sure there are other member-friendly clubs but FBC is not one of them.
