Review content:
I have lived in Rapid City SD for most of my life. In that life I have collected many things. Among them are comic books and collectible games. I have also, over this stores history have shopped here. However this is not out of loyalty but because I have no other choice. In Rapid City there is but one comic book store and that is Storyteller. The guy that runs it ( I do not know his name) is rude, dismissive and more interested in the games being played in his back room then running a business. I have personally waited 10 to 15 minutes to be rung out or to get some help while he looked straight at me seeing I was ready. I have left this store several times putting back items I intended to buy because he could not be bothered to find the time for his customers. He has many items displayed in the store front window and littered throughout the store in somewhat disorganized fashion. Only after getting his attention and in between ADHD glances back to his game room, do you learn many of these items are not for sale. They are not for sale even though they are scattered amongst items with price tags.. What his does have for sale is often over priced even for small town standards, they are often items that have a thick layer of dust and could be bought online for 50 to 75% cheaper. When looking for back issue comics or older collectible items, he often says he is sold out, or is reordering and waiting for them to arrive. This is understandable but it is when the items are in another part of the store. or not sorted/priced to sell that this store can be at it's most frustrating. With money in hand he will often ask you to return at a later date when you return you are often greeted with an excuse and asked to return again and again, With customers with cash in hand, who does that? I finally had enough of this store's bad business practices. I had to go out of state to get my comic reliably and go online for my collectibles. Sometimes it may be more expensive but at least the online stores are not to ""busy"" to sell you something. In closing this store had to be the inspiration for the Comic book guy of Simpsons fame, at least when it came to attitude. The only Problem with that analogy is at least with The Comic Book Guy he was interested in making money. If you have any other way of getting comics or collectibles I suggest you get it there 1 out of 5 stars. STAY AWAY!!!
