Review content:
I was finally introduced to Greek food moving to Portland and I now feel like an expert on the food. Ok, in my mind only!!! Needless to say I have searched and tried every Greek Restaurant I could locate; I can now officially say my search is over, Demetri's restaurant is THE reason Greek food is now my favorite cuisine.
To start with the calamari would be the most appropriate as this is clearly Demetri?s signature dish. Of all the calamari?s in the world, or at least in the Pacific Northwest, Demetri?s chef understands and appreciates that less is more and that is showcased with the flavor of the calamari. Excellent for a lack of a better word is the only adjective to describe it.
I don?t want to under appreciate the starter we had of hummus, pita, and grape leaves as this was implied when I skipped straight to the calamari.
Once we moved on to the main course of the ?Greek Platter? which was a variety of Greek infused meats cooked to perfection, we knew then and there that there is no other Greek restaurant for us.
I would hate to end this review without acknowledging all the other times we have visited for HH and were delighted by the Chef?s off the cuff specials. My only complaint is I wish there was an entire menu dedicated to the Chefs ?Off the cuff specials? because even Greek lovers need to venture out sometimes!
Pros: Food, staff, location
Cons: Parking!
