When my brother-in-laws mom was in comfort care I started calling around for cremation services. She had not made arrangments so cost was a factor. They not only had the best prices they were also extremely courteous. The costs started at just under $1000 for the basic service (about $1900 at the Neptune Society). They also had a witness cremation service for an additional fee at their Stockton facility where you can observe box go into the cremator and return the same day in just over an hour to pick up the remains (everywhere else it takes 2 days to get remains). It was important to my brother in law to insure that the body going in to the cremator was his mom so they paid the additional fee for a final viewing. This was arranged at the last minute and everything was in order. Should I ever need cremation services again I would definitely use them. Personally I feel that with this family owned business you can feel confident that you are not being taken advantage of during a vulnerable time. You should save yourself money and not pay for any of the verification fees (witness cremation and final viewing) and still feel completely comfortable that the remains they hand over are your loved ones and were treated with utmost respect.
