Review content:
I'd like to emphasize that the end result of the work done on our house was actually quite good and we are satisfied with the siding work performed but the customer service was terrible which is why I am giving this review. I wish I would have listened to my gut instinct prior to the work being started (not returning phone calls, not willing to itemize his high bid proposal, forgetting appointments, starting work without a signed contract or our consent/date to start work, etc) but despite the apparent red flags, his good reviews on Service Magic persuaded us to give him the benefit of the doubt. Due to concerns on how they handled the asbestos siding on our house (panels and broken pieces all around our lawn, porch and deck), I called Kevin and also called DEQ to get information on what the standard procedure was in dealing with asbestos siding. First, DEQ verified that Kevin is not a licensed asbestos contractor and on DEQ's own accord; they did a site visit and verified that he was not following protocol. I was not trying to get Kevin in ""trouble"" but I received a very nasty phone call from Kevin Shannon upset that I got DEQ involved and demanded I pay an extra $2000 to properly dispose of the siding to DEQ standards and that I also pay him in full for the job that afternoon. I did not agree to either demands and Kevin became aggressive and condescending. (BTW: DEQ verified it would not cost more than a couple hundred extra to properly dispose of the asbestos siding). Appalled at his reaction and verbiage, I told him I was uncomfortable with how he was speaking to me and he hung up on me. I tried calling him back but he did not answer. When we came home that night, the job appeared abandoned - we received no phone call that the job was either delayed or abandoned and we assumed he quit. A few days later, (and to our surprise) they came back and finished the job while we were at work. Afterwards, Kevin called (and to his credit, he was very apologetic and cordial to my spouse) explaining the job was finished and he was ready to get paid. I am still very disappointed in the lack of professionalism offered by Kevin. Even though they performed quality work and even though he apologized for losing his cool after the fact, I feel that sorry doesn't make up for how I was treated which unfortunately reflects bad on his character and customer service.
