This place should be avoided. They denied my foreign ID at the door. One thing is that I'm here on a legal student visa, following every rule I need to follow compared to all the illegal immigrants or visa-holders who work illegally etc. Another thing is that they denied my foreign ID (which in my case is my European driver's license which is accepted anywhere else in Santa Barbara), but they even refused to take a look at my passport. If I can't use my passport (which is one of the newest passports and which has more security holograms embedded in it than most US passports) as identification, then what can I use? Well, they told me to get a CA ID. I do think everything would be much easier if I had a CA ID, but the fact that they denied my passport by saying that this was an order by the SBPD is a lie. I talked to an officer who said this is highly discriminating (a passport is the ultimate ID) and this is NOT something the PD told them not to accept.
