Review content:
I just returned from a Manhattan conference combined with vacation time with my eight year old daughter. Wanting something different and more affordable than the Midtown Manhattan experience, we stayed at the Pan American in Queens. What a delight! The staff was friendly and helpful which was great considering how busy this hotel was. The room was cleaned spotlessly every day no matter what time we left the room. We were picked up promptly and free from the airport and returned for a nominal fee. The immediate area was superficially lacking, but it was convenient and within minutes to the bus and subway. Within one block of the hotel we found the funky diner called Pop's, a great Afghani place called Bahar's and a really authentic, cheap, delicious Chinese food, sushi place and market next door. In fifteen minutes you can be in any number of more recognizable neighborhoods. The rooms were a little run-down, but they were as good as those at the Midtown Hilton with better service and half the cost. I'm looking forward to my next visit to New York and to the Pan American.
Pros: Service, Cleanliness, Convenience
Cons: Ambience
