Review content:
I walked in and the woman was a little whiny. She asked me to put all my jewelry on the mat on her desk. I asked a question about pearls which she refused to answer until I put all my jewelry out. That should have been a red flag, because she was kind of rude and controlling throughout the whole visit.
It went downhill from there. She grilled me about my profession, how I heard about the place (when I said I didn't remember she asked about 7 follow up questions. When i said I really don't remember, she reprimanded me and said she really has to ask.)
She gave me a super lowball price for a lot of 14 & 18 karat gold. $146. I had a silver pendant with mother of pearl which she offered 78 cents for. When I asked her to explain her pricing, she got a little obnoxious and defensive.
I said I'll pass and she then called her supervisor and had the most FAKE conversation I've ever heard - I mean, this is LA at least take an acting class ;-) She was telling her supervisor how no one buys gold anymore, they sink their money into Apple.
She then raised the price to about $220. Which was still way too low. I passed again and got more than double that at a private dealer just 1 day later.
But the thing that bugged me just as much was her attitude.
I felt like I'd been slimed, like I had to take a shower afterwards. So glad I didn't sell there!
