Our Chihuahua sneeked out of the yard on Aug. 25, 2011 when the grandchildren left. On Aug 26 I went to Mesa County Animal services to look for him. I did not find him and filled out a lost report. They did not tell me there was a board with pictures of found pets. We put up signs and checked local shelters. By accident about a week later I found out he had been hit by a car on D1/2 and Morning Dove. They had taken him to the vet. He was okay and had road rash and soft tissue damage. The vet sent him to Mesa County Animal Control On Aug. 25. I was at Animal Control on Aug. 26 and couldn't find him. I ask them what to do and they had me fill out a lost report. My dog was never up for public view but was there when I was looking for him. They never entered my lost report in the computer and never told me they had an injured Chihuahua. When I found out from the vet what had happened I went straight to Animal Services. They looked and said he was already gone. I ask why I had not been contacted from my lost report she couldn't find it in the computer and had no answer. It was Sat. Labor Day weekend. She gave me 3 numbers to contact on Tues. The main manager never returned my calls and I called everyday for more than a week. I also filled out paperwork to find out where he went and have still not been able to find him. This is Sept. 20. We did everything we were suppose to do. Checked w/ animal control and filled out lost report. Checked other shelters. Put up lost signs. They had my dog. I was there looking for him the very next day and was never told there was a section where they kept animals that are not up for public view. I ask and they told me he was never up for public view. They will not tell me where he is. We did nothing wrong. He is fast and he escaped. We just want him back. We have raised him from a pup.My children, 10 and 4, miss him very much and ask why Mesa county animal service won't give him back. We miss him and so does our other dog. I have checked all local and all Colorado shelters and can't find him. I have contacted the City Attorney and the City Council
