Oh - My - Gosh - I thought I had died and gone to heaven. When I walked in I instantly hooked into the beat of ""Bate Forte o Tambor "" - authentic Brazilian music. I was dancing while I was shown to my table. Be sure to reserve well in advance. I was told I would have to eat in the bar when I reserved, but they made a place for me in the main room when I came. I was literally dancing in my seat while waiting for my menu. The energy here is electric! Cool! Hip! All the waiters serve with a very happy smile and high energy. They have 4 high quality speakers placed around the room, and while they didn't dominate the conversation, the music created the hypnotic effect of feeling you are on a sidewalk cafe/restaurant in Copacabana, with the Atlantic ocean waves crashing on the shore across the street. I had the Moqueca de Peixe and it was a PERFECT 10! Did I say it was perfect? It was DELECTABLE!!! While I was waiting for my food I made a trip to the rest room. During that time, my soup had arrived. When I got back to the table, my soup had been covered with a plate to keep it warm, and my napkin had been artfully rolled into a scroll and draped across the top plate. Let me tell you, this is the best continental service that is RARE to find in America. The service is beyond what we are used to seeing here, and is at the caliber of what we would only see in a 5 star restaurant. But this place IS laid back, so it's not intimidating service. Expect the best of the best here. It's a great place for a second date, edgy, fun, cool. There were plenty of people in there in their 50's as well as some in their 20's and 30's. I just can't say enough good things about this place! I want to go back weekly. When it was time to go, I was actually sad to leave. Walking out to the parking lot, I had that same immensity of feeling that one has after seeing a great play, or having been to a great symphony, that you were totally mesmerized and taken over by some form of art. That's Cafe Brazil!
Pros: The food, the authenticity, the high energy hip atmosphere.
Cons: Having to leave when it was over.
