Review content:
My wife and I wanted a place that was an eclectic place with outdoor seating and great food. The Spring Valley Inn outside of Hellertown, PA fit the bill perfectly. It's a little hard to find unless you type the address into your GPS. We had been there once before, shortly after the new owners had purchased it. Parking looks to be an issue when you first get there; however, there is adequate parking on the opposite side of the street just around the corner. Do not trust the website. The new owners have not taken it down and it has old information on it. They really need to get this fixed. If they posted a menu online, they'd attract new customers. This place has been in operation since the early 1800's and has never been completely shut down. It is as old a building as you'll find in that area. The interior dining is nice. You can request a seat by the window when you make your reservation. This will give you a good view of the garden area. The outside bar is much like you would expect under a tiki hut at the beach. The garden area is nice to walk around and watch the fountains and trout swimming around. They raise their own trout on premises. Our server was a college kid who was really nice and friendly. My wife chose the broiled Maryland seafood sampler and I had the trout and filet. Both meals came with freshly baked bread(really delicious), Au gratin potatoes(really delicious), salad, and mixed fresh vegetables. The filet was perfectly done and extremely tender. The trout had plenty of flavor and was served de-boned to save me the hassle. My wife's seafood was also very good. After living on the eastern shore of Maryland for several years, the crab cake left something to be desired. Years ago, we probably would be raving about it, but nothing really compares after you've had the real thing so many times. Drinks were good and moderately priced. Overall a good experience. Go for the ambiance and stay for the food. Pros: Outdoor dining, good food, friendly people, Eclectic location Cons: bad website info, service was a little unprofessional,
