Review content:
Giuseppe's set the record for bad eggplant parmigiana - by far the worst I have ever had and also the most expensive ($17). The eggplant came as three thick slices that were lightly breaded and had a touch of cheese - not very appealing to look at. Worse yet, it was badly undercooked so that it was crunchy. A la dente eggplant?! Needless to say, it did not taste good . It was accompanied by steamed broccoli that was properly cooked - big whoop - and fettuccine with marinara sauce that had separated so that it consisted of a little tomato pulp on the pasta, which was sitting in a pool of liquid. Yuck. As is often the case with poor quality marinara sauces, it was heavy on oregano and basil, probably to try and cover up the poor quality. The dinner included ..... nothing. When we asked for bread, the waitress told us that she would gladly bring us bread with a $2 surcharge. The bread was just okay, not what I would call good Italian bread. With the high cost for a staple like eggplant parmigiana, you might think that the restaurant would offer the ambiance of fine dining. Not so. Our table was covered with white paper and there were crayons to use for playing games or whatever. That might make it seem like a kid-friendly place, but it was more like old style dark and dreary. The entrees ranged from the mid-teens to the mid-twenties. I was glad I did not order a salad, which I suspect would have left me disappointed. I am amazed to see that some people have given it 5 stars. Did I just happen to go on a bad night? I don't know, but based on my experience every other Italian restaurant in Bend beats Giuseppe's hands down.
Pros: Service was adequate
Cons: Expensive, Food not good
