Review content:
The bread was dry, hard enough to put a hole in the wall, and tasteless- inexcusable in an Italian restaurant. The Risotto with mushrooms was good, as was the spaghetti with pomodoro. The latter is a dish which, by its mere simplicity, is rarely impressive. However, in this case there was a subtle, intriguing sweetness, perhaps the basil (not my favorite spice, BTW) which complemented it so well. The risotto was rich, creamy, and loaded with earthy mushrooms. The veal with walnuts failed miserably. One of my peeves with sauces is that they must not have that fake bouillion taste. The sauce in this dish tasted like fake bouillon with a splash of flavoring (perhaps Marsala). The veal cutlets in the dish were over cooked, and the walnuts did not harmonize or integrate with the dish; they were tossed in like a disparate after thought. Oh, the bottled beer was great...the Cosmopolitan, on the other hand, was undrinkable. Then came the Pistachio "Panna Cotta". Although this dessert was good, it was an "interpretation" of a panna cotta. I was amused when the dining companion said there was yogurt in it LOL; the tart flavor it had is never characteristic of an authentic panna cotta. Add to this the typical South Miami hassle for parking and this experience is down to 2 stars.
