Review content:
I've shopped at Penny Lane since they opened their first store in Venice Beach back in 1985 or so. My favorite was the Westwood Village store when they were on Gayley Ave. - until now, that is. It seems this new location has taken all the best qualities from the old Penny Lanes and combined them into their best store yet. I'm particularly partial to vinyl, and this store does not disappoint. Besides a regularly-revolving selection of good used records, they have a lot of obscure reissues that I have not seen elsewhere. The new and used CD sections are not as large as they were in some of the old Penny Lanes, but I think that's because their vinyl now takes up a lot of the space in addition to their DVD section which is pretty respectable. They still usually have the CDs I'm looking for, and many times I'll find used or promo copies for under eight bucks. The staff I've dealt with has been great, especially Kelly and Steve, who can usually be seen at the counter behind large stacks of used records that are about to go out. I've sold a lot of records and CDs to Penny Lane over the years and they've always been fair with me. It would be a shame if a store like this were to close because of our lack of support - we need them. Pay them a visit, drop a few bucks now and again, and tell them Enalyn sent you. Pros: Selection, Ambience, Parking, Service Cons: I wish they were open later
