Review content:
I wouldn't even give this place a full star but the option for a half star is not available. After having arthroscopic patella realignment surgery my Dr. had recommenced Professional Orthopedic to me for my physical therapy and since it was conveniently located down the block from my house it sounded like the perfect scenario.
I was terribly wrong. After having 6 months of PT prior to surgery I'm fully aware of how physical therapy works, etc.. ""Professional"" Orthopedic and Sports Therapy is the worst nightmare to any patience who just had surgery or a serious injury that needs rehabilitating.
First, this tiny room where everyone gets treated was packed to capacity both days I was there. There was about a 6:1 ratio, about 6 people per physical therapist. So my PT was working on about 5 other people including myself. His ""assistant"" which is only an Athletic Trainer took me through all my exercises incorrectly (I later found out I was doing them all wrong when I switched facilities).
On my second day I was left by myself to ""go through"" all my exercises for about 45 minutes. Not once did anyone come to check that I was doing them correctly. Finally some man I never (another Athletic Trainer) met took me through the rest of my exercises until I was brought to tears because he refused to listen to my complaints of pain (I know good pain versus bad pain and after fighting through most of the exercise I know this was terribly bad pain). After he was done I sat there for another 20 minutes waiting for something to happen. My PT later came to give me a 3 minute massage on my knee and that's all I saw of him during a 2 hour period there.
Needless to say I did stay here and immediately found a true hands on facility (I recommend Recovery PT if you live in the Larchmont/Mamaroneck area, they are truly wonderful). However to make matters worse my old ""Physical Therapist"" had the nerve to call my Dr. and complain about me! I have never in my life been treating in such a way as I did at Professional Orthopedic and unless you like to feel like you're on a cattle ranch then stay away.
