My husband and I have been going to Jack's for many years and have never been disappointed with any of the meals we've had until tonight. I was excited to try out the Filet Mignon that won the Hometown Grill off award on Regis and Kelly. It was $21.99 but hey that's not that expensive if it won critical acclaim on TV right?
Well I hate too see what the runners up grilled because this was sorriest excuse for a steak I've ever had. When they first brought it out I had to ask If I received the right order because it looked like a skinny piece of Sirlion. The waitress said yes it was correct but, had been butterflied so that's what caused the cut of beef to look different. They also forgot to put on the garlic butter which was ok because it completely overwhelmed the steak. The presentation of the dish was poor too. It looked like it came from a buffet line. The potatoes were just slopped on and the steak just sat there. No garnish to liven it up at all. to top it all off the steak was grossly overcooked and dried out.
I know I may sound harsh and for all I know the chef could of been having a bad night, but for $21.99 and a claim to an award I expected MUCH better fair. I still gave the place 5 stars because as I said I have always enjoyed their food before tonight and I will in the future so long as I don't order that dish again.
Pros: Great food and fun atmosphere
Cons: Award winning steak should have been a runner up.
