Review content:
I have read every post about Parkside, and although I do agree with some things, others have completely confused me. I have been to Parkside numerous times for detox (and no my multiple stints there are not proof that they don't know what they are doing, just that my insurance sucks, would only pay for 3-5 days of detox, no long term care, and I wasn't ready to quit). Anywhere you go there will be people you don't like, especially for us addicts who are so used to a substance running our lives that when someone tries to tell us a different way to live we immediately reject it. Yes the food isn't the greatest, but at least you are getting 3 meals a days plus a snack. If you were a junkie on the streets would you be eating so well? The majority of the staff are some of the most caring, comforting, non judgemental people in the world. The one problem I had that was of a very serious nature with a male counselor was handled swiftly and professionally. I personally find this place to be a Godsend, and wish my insurance would allow me to do my residential treatment there, I would prefer it so much over the alternative. I go back in tomorrow for my 9th time to detox, then off to receive long term inpatient care elsewhere. I am so greatful that I have the opportunity to go back, as I know many people (addicts) with no insurance, and no way to get the treatment we are afforded at Parkside. You definitely get out of this place and situation what you put in, and for the 1st time I plan on giving it my everything. I hope that if you are suffering from an addiction you will seek help from Parkside, as we all know the alternatives to treatment are far worse than anything I have read in any of these reviews (jail, institutions, & death). Thank you for your time.
