Review content:
This was my third time here, but my first time back in the new and bigger space. They must have trained or hired new sushi chefs because the menu was more extensive, and the dishes excellently presented. I took my Mom for her birthday on a Thursday night, it was not busy at all. She ate a sashimi plate, and I ate 2 rolls.
The typical first course salad was romaine, with a dressing that tasted like peanuts and onion instead of the traditional carrot-ginger. I didn't mind the difference. The miso soup was good, I have no complaints about that.
I have been searching high and low for a tempura-sweet potato roll and finally found one! And it was delicious. I also ate a spicy tuna roll, and it was good with the spiciness creeping up on my tastebuds. The extra side of rice I ordered was ever so slightly dry. The side of ginger was yellowish in color, and I inadvertently got a spicy piece but some of it was sweet also. Low sodium soy sauce was available. The wasabi was moderate in spice to quantity ratio.
The sashimi looked fresh, and my Mom ate it all with no complaints. The staff was friendly.
My only complaint is that the waitress forgot our waters and it took a while to actually get someone's attention. It was however close to closing time. In between the closed cases of sushi ingredients were crumbs on the wood bar. Special rolls get pricey, otherwise good value.
