Review content:
We went to Kreis' for my Mom's birthday. Had a filet the night before at another St. Louis restaurant and decided to go for seafood, so I asked the server about the scallops. He said they were one of their best seafood entrees. I travel all over the country and have had scallops in many cities. If this was their best seafood entree, I would not want to try any of their other seafood. The scallops, while large, had little flavor and were very tough and rubbery. It is the first time in my life that I have not finished my scallops, in fact, I only ate about half of them. I didn't want to make a fuss about them, as it was my Mom's birthday and she was enjoying her filet so much (I had a bite and it was great...go for it if you visit here), I didn't want to say anything. What I really found interesting was the reaction of the server. He didn't blink an eye when he cleared off my plate before anyone else was finished and didn't even ask if everything was ok. Most good restaurants or great restaurants ask. So, go for the filet but avoid the seafood.
Pros: filet
Cons: seafood, especially the scallops and the decor could use an update and a shower...
