My husband and I stayed at the Barbican Guest House on the weekend of our first anniversary (in August 2007), and it turned out to be the perfect place to spend a quiet, celebratory weekend together. We had considered staying at the Stone Harbor Resort across the street, which did look beautiful, but I'm so glad we decided on the Barbican. The hosts were incredibly gracious, and we felt good about supporting a local, family-run bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Bridgeview suite, and for $125/night we enjoyed an immaculate, spacious room decorated with lovely antiques. It had a Queen bed, gas fireplace, sitting area, private Jacuzzi tub, and an updated bathroom. There was also a small television, radio, and mini-fridge. In my opinion, the photos on the Barbican's website don't really do its rooms or the property justice. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with flowers and winding walkways, and we enjoyed spending our evenings on the spacious front porch. The real highlight, however, was the morning breakfast, which included an omelet, warm homemade muffins, fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee, all delivered to our door in a wicker basket. Everything was delicious, and they were even kind enough to accommodate our vegetarian request. This was our first trip to Door County, and we were glad to be located within walking distance to the 3rd St. shops and restaurants--it was really a perfect location. I am always candid in my reviews, but I honestly cannot think of anything we would have changed. We were incredibly happy with every aspect of our stay, and recommend the Barbican most highly.
