Businiess name:  Arroyo Grande Appliance Repair

Review content:
We have a refrigerator that went on the fritz. Called Arroyo Grande Appliance repair for 3 days with no response. Totally stressed we tried to ice things down only to see the ice melt and ruin most of the contents. We are in financial difficulty now and couldn't afford to buy a new one so we went the Craigslist ""used refrigerators route. Found a smaller one in good condition, rented a trailer, picked it up, brought it home, bought and paid for a new icemaker option, and installed it, and moved the old refrigerator to the garage. This morning as a fluke as I was looking on Service Magic's website I saw them listed and called. Believe it or not someone answered so I introduced myself and let them know I called 3 other times with an emergency and nobody called me back. No apology but made an appointment to come, showed on time (5 minutes away), got out of his truck to see the refrigerator in my garage as I told him the symptoms. Said he just worked on one of these and wrote me a quote for $240 to repair it. I asked my wife and even though the quote didn't seem out of line we (because of all of the above issues) didn't have $240 to spend right now to repair it. At that point he tells me that will be $65 for the estimate. He drove 5 minutes, I diagnosed the problem, he said he just worked on one of these, wrote $240 on an invoice, and spent a total of 5 minutes here and I was supposed to pay him $65. If he'd have responded in the first place I wouldn't already be out $650 along with the loss of most of the refrigerators contents. I own a kitchen and bath cabinetry business and I bid work AND do computer designs and lose bids constantly FOR FREE. Why should I pay $65 to a guy that didn't respond to my EMERGENCY? He would have ended up doing the job THEN and when we have the money LATER but we couldn't afford it at this time. Needless to say he left in a huff. Sorry, but I feel I'm in the right here. He didn't mention on the phone it would cost me anything much less $65 to drive 5 minutes, get out of his truck, have me diagnose the problem for him, and write an invoice for $240, all in 5 minutes. Pros: Showed up on time for the estimate... Cons: Did not respond after 3 calls and messages left...
