Review content:
I received a card in the mail to audition for John Robert Powers here in Houston, Tx. I had acting experience and childhood attempts at modeling under my belt. We auditioned and the director became enamored with my acting skills. I was accepted on the spot to this school. I was excited. My mom was so happy that she paid the $2000 for me to attend this acting/modeling school. I was told at first that it would include head shots, and acting classes. I instead was forced to begin with ""image classes"". These just taught me how to walk runway (though at 5'1 I was never going to do runway). I never was allowed to attend my acting classes. Later on I was hospitalized with kidney stones and missed 3 classes. I was promised that I could make them up. I made one up and it was a repeat of the runway class. They would have phony directors come in and tell you how fit you were for a part they had on tv. The directors were to return. We called back and the school had been shut down. This was only a matter of months! We have filed complaints. JRP is all over the internet for fraud. We are left minus $2,000 and I'm done with acting and modeling. Thankfully I grew up and decided to get a real job. Keep in mind this is the Houston location. Another interesting thing is that John Robert Powers aren't even accredited or licensed.. or so I was told. It's like a mom running a modeling school out of her living room.
