We left our dog at Zoey's TLC (Tender Loving Care) while we were on Christmas vacation in Mexico for five days. The care given to dogs at Zoey's TLC is in no humane way any of the three (TLC).
We got in late last night (around 10 PM) and were missing him so badly that we just had to go to the website just to feel closer to him. Just happened to read some reviews and were appalled at what we found. Zoey's only walk the dogs 2-3 times a day (dogs urinate more often than that), they sometimes leave the dogs in their own feces for them to slide around in, and the dogs are not always given plenty of water or food. One of the reviews we read stated that a lady's dogs lost 5-10 pounds in a week. I also read other appalling facts.
We asked to go in the back to pick up him this morning. It took what seemed to be around eight minutes for them to allow us into the back area where they keep the dogs (other kennels have allowed us in their back areas without hesitation). After being in the back and seeing the other dogs, we came to the opinion that the helpers at Zoey' moved our dog to a cleaner kennel. Still, when we picked up our dog he smelled of urine. Knowing that others may not believe me I took some pictures of the living conditions. The dogs were made to sleep on cold metal crates and only some had rags which are so called blankets. You must agree that the pets do need better living conditions while being taken care of by a licensed (?) care provider.
