The have lied to me, scammed me, and charged me hundreds of thousand of dollars in fees. One of their favorite methods is say they want to help you and after filing tons of paper and spending a lot of money they say sorry nothing they can do unless you do what is impossible to due and all the while they smile and are very sympathetic but they say pay everything and with a good record they will review it in a year. I have had a major business and personal relationship with Regions (Amsouth) for about 20 years. I have had 7 or 8 mortgages and 10 or more lines of credit. Currently I have a 3 lines of credit and 3 mortgages. I have never asked for any reduction or change at all in the mortgage payments. In Oct of 2010 I was late paying my property tax on my condo of about 12,000 dollars. When I discovered it, I went to pay it but the bank had already pd it. (It was and interest only loan). I then get a letter from the bank that they not only paid that tax, they had paid the taxes not due for 5 months and they wanted to start escrowing for the following year which meant an increase of 3 to 4 thousand a month payments which I could not manage, They offered to combine the line of credit and the mtg and property tax into a much favorable mtg. They then offered an even lower interest if I paid 40,000 which I accepted. After filing all the paper work and paying for an appraisal they said everything was set and all I had to due was sign the papers. After not receiving any papers to sign and many phone calls to them they would say everything was set and they would call me back in several hours to give me the detail. They would never respond so I would call them back about every week. I continued to make my regular mortgage payment for 2 months into 2011 but then they told me the time had passed and I would have to file more paperwork and pay the mortgage up to date (which was all the increase escrow) Regions then put the mortgage into forclosure and completley ruined my credit. From a score in mid 700's and having a virtually clean record for 20 years it dropped down into the 500's. Because of that most my credit cards and lines of credit were closed. In addition to that they had closed an unsecured corp line of credit and because I was an officer in the Corp they have taken thousands of dollars out of a personal account and claim that when I opened the personal checking account 20 years ago with Amsouth, there was a clause in it that said they could take money from my account for any amounts owed to the bank for which I was associated with or was a principal. They so far have refused to provide a copy but with all the small prints and clauses I don't know if there was or not. If there was, there are in such legalize that I doubt anyone would read or know about. This is only 1 of the problems with Regions some major and some minor (such as being charged $110 and waiting 1 whole month for a Canadian check to clear- even though it was drawn on an American bank)
