Review content:
Yes -- you can eat even frozen pizza and be partly satisfied with it -- this is the wonder of pizza. But how rare to consume a truly great pizza. This is what you get at Petrillo's every time. It starts with the best mozzarella you will ever find on a pizza -- not the tasteless white glop you normally find there, but stuff you could easily eat all by itself, unmelted. Add to this pepperoni that packs a punch, pizza sauce that neither overpowers the palate nor ignores it, and a tasty, chewy crust. Moreover, Petrillo's stints on nothing. Nothing. Keep it simple and get the big rectangular slab of pepperoni pizza.
The pizza is so good at Petrillo's that in my 14 years of going here (and I live in West L.A. -- 35 minutes away when the freeway is clear), I've never ordered anything else. Why?
Pros: not too expensive, consistently good
