Review content:
After reading some of the stellar reviews here and elsewhere, I had to try this place. To me, atmosphere and service are secondary to great-tasting, authentic food, so the warnings about service quality did not faze me. Unfortunately, the food turned out to be the worst part of the experience. We had the Mongolian beef and the Szechwan beef dinners. Both were the same heavily-Americanized, goopy, saucy stuff you can find at any typical Chinese joint in any mall plaza in the suburbs; and probably a bit blander than average. The Szechwan was the worse of the two, being quite bland and not at all spicy. We were coming here expressly to avoid this exact type of food--we could have just gone to the place around the corner for that--so there was an extra element of disappointment. Not only was the food terrible, but as in the old joke, the portions were too small; neither of us were near full afterwards. The dinner didn't come with any extras, such as eggrolls or even soup, which is unusual.
