I have been to Fort Griffin several times in the last five years and every time I am reminded that it is one of the best places you can get steak, ANYWHERE. I have not yet had a filet from another restaurant that I enjoy more, they melt in your mouth with every bite. The energetic owner/cook makes his rounds nightly to chat with tables and the old frontier ambience is quite appropriate for the small and proud West Texas town.
The salad bar is top notch but due to demand there tends to long lines at the beginning of seatings. The prices are also reasonable, considering that you can get a 14 oz filet for under $30. If you're ever in the area, don't miss out. I never do.
