I contracted with Max Boren of Boren Roofing & Remodeling in May, 2007. He was paid in full plus more. He said job was complete in August/Sept 2007 with a five year unlimited warranty. Call w/any problems and he would be right out to repair. He suggested on single story parts that it would be better not to take off old roof (as was bid on) but to just roof over it instead with new shingles. I trusted his judgment as he was the roofer. Living in Texas we had no heavy rains until Nov/Dec that year. When it did rain we had several leaks in the back single story area. We started calling him in December, 2007, Jan & Feb 2008; he finally returned our call around March. Of course our ceilings and wood floors were ruined by then. He sent a guy out who put tar on one spot. Next rain we had the same problems as before. For months and months we have called and he has avoided our phone calls, at first just lying to us saying he would send someone out. Then he just stopped answering and never responding to our messages. My husband is 67 and cannot get on the roof to try to repair any of these problems even if he knew how. We don't have finances to have it redone by someone else. ( He is responsible for this mess) I contacted by current Homeowner insurance agent to see if he might could help. Max Boren and all those listed on his website would never respond to phone calls or any messages that my agent left for them. They state on their website how they are licensed by the state, etc. and are reputable, competent, honest, professional, with all this advice about how to find an honest roofer. And they list that part of their income goes to a Christian Charity. (I am a Christian, and this is definitely not how one acts or conducts business.) What a JOKE! There's a broken/soft spot on the roof where they dropped a heavy load of roofing material and didn't repair it, they didn't put any flashing where it was needed, and tore off some fascia board on the 2nd story and didn't replace it. (Said he would send his remodeling carpenter out to fix everything the next week?) What good does it do to have a 5 year warranty if they won't even come back within the first 6 months or 1st year. They are just out to get your MONEY and not give you any service.
Cons: Everything was a con.
