Review content:
The seller of the property I am still in the process of buying is the one who chose this title company. I had no choice but to use Great American Title in Phoenix. From the very start...sending the earnest money deposit...my experience has been a nightmare. Hung up on or put on terminal hold (longest was 40 min) was par for the course. No confirmation my earnest deposit even made it to the office via courier. The worst? This: Yesterday I signed all my loan docs/closing paperwork with the notary. The escrow officer I had been assigned to didn't even show her face in the office. I was told I could either pay by certified cashier's check or I could do a wire transfer. Cashier's check in hand, standing in the waiting room, I was met with a tirade of disatisfaction starting in a far rear office and leading up to the waiting room area from...guess who?...the escrow officer assigned to me, who announced to the entire staff and customers in the waiting room ""Why did she bring a check? Is this even an official check??(It was, it came from my credit union and was stamped with the words ""Official Certified Check"". She then announced in a very loud voice ""This will take 2 days to clear! I would have rather you had had it wired"" Now it is my understanding that a certified cashier's check is prepaid. There is no waiting for the 'check to clear'. I told her that I should have been told a cashier's check was not acceptable and left. After all of this is over, I will be sending formal letters of complaint to all involved in the process. IF YOU DONT GET ANYTHING ELSE OUT OF READING THIS TIRADE...READ THIS...DO NOT USE OR RECOMMEND GREAT AMERICAN TITLE COMPANY ESPECIALLY THE PHOENIX BRANCH. You would think that someone you are giving thousands of dollars to would treat you with a little more respect.
Pros: The notary I personally dealt with was knowledgable and professional
Cons: There is a 5-letter word for the escrow officer I was assigned
