Review content:
I have been up to B'haven on Fridays at Recess 101 a few times now. I have ALWAYS had an exceptionally good time there. The acoustics in that high-ceiling room bounce unusually well. It was a great idea to preserve it. Plus they only hire GOOD bands to play in it ~ of the caliber you might only otherwise see in Austin TX, Beale St., or at certain isolated places in N.O., Natchez or Jxn on a Lucky night. I say this because the bands invited to Recess101 can readily recognize and exploit that unique-sounding, high ceiling, percussive corner. A Drummer worth his salt notices the low decibel short-bounce and exploits it; Bassists ~ don't bounce and blur; Gtrists sense the space and (reflexively) delve into/thru all 3 EQ settings ~ low-to-mid-to-hi ~ just by string attack/harmonics/feedback.
Also, when i have eaten there before - late night - it was VERY excellent seafood. (not tonight though - i should have requested some gumbo earlier than i did. It is WORTH remembering sooner!). The staff is nice and friendly, there's good parking, smoking area out back, - much classier than most places you will find 90 miles North or South. I recommend it highly. For What It's Worth.
