Yes, you read that right - I just said Par Golf on 401 is my favourite Par 3. While the location is WAY out there (practically in Garner/Fuquay Varina), and it's hard to argue that it's BETTER than Knight's Play (the local Par 3 juggernaut) Par Golf is my sentimental choice. Why? 1) It's dirt cheap, for both the driving range and 9-hole. As far as I know, it's the only place that's less than a dollar-a-hole in the Triangle. 2) The staff is fantastic - really nice, helpful guys who seem happy to have your business. 3)They actually honor their coupons, unlike alot of local golf places. Plus there's no silly restrictions on them either (Knight's Play only let you use a coupon Mon-Thurs, 8-5pm or some nonsense). 4) The SnowBall shack onsite is awesome- cheap ($1) snowballs that are inventive and delicious. You might balk at an Egg Custard or a Strawberry Cheesecake-flavored Snowball, but trust me - they're spectacular. 5) Unlike Knight's Play, where you have to fight tooth and nail for a tee time and end up getting stuck behind Full House golfing at a glacial pace (and inevitably in front of angry fratboys who blame you for taking too long), Par Golf is chill and relaxing - y'know, like golf is supposed to be.
Pros: Never crowded, dirt cheap, snowballs are awesome. Super-friendly staff.
Cons: Course isn't in the best shape. Out-of-the-way location.
