Review content:
How many times have you wanted to bring the family to see a movie, only to get there and here the kids telling you how hungry they are. You order the usual, popcorn and nachos, and get whacked with a $50 concession stand bill for a few popcorns, sodas, and some candy bars. Knowing you could have smuggled it in for $5 total, you mumble some nasty words under your breathe and vow to go to Chunky's next time... Chunky's has a restaurant INSIDE the theatre. I'm not talking about inside the lobby, I mean inside the actual area where the movie is shown. You sit in these whacky old cadillac seats they've restored, and you have a waitress and real food menus - even dessert. All while the movie is playing. It's great and I suggest taking your family there sometimes - or a group of friends. The management is also great, we were misdirected to the wrong theatre for a movie and sat there 20 minutes waiting for the film. No one was coming into the theatre, so we thought we'd go ask what was up. The manager said the movie already started 15 minutes prior in an adjacent theatre and he felt horrible that we were misdirected. He gave us not two, but SIX free movie passes. SIX. He also let us into the movie that we were already there for - and although it had started 15 minutes prior, it was only about 10 minutes into the movie after previews and it was a comedy, so we didn't miss a major opening plot. During the movie, he sent someone in to check on us and they brought free ice cream sundaes. I mean, come on, who does that at Showcase Cinemas? True, Chunky's isn't a big frilly movie theatre mega complex - but it shows movies with excellent sound and picture, has a restaurant with normal prices, you can bring large groups, and they have excellent management and all the latest films. Need I say more? Have fun!
