SO... I had the ABSOLUTE WORST experience at New Image Salon by a stylist named MARY. I had to return 3 times only to have myself and my mother insulted, and my hair look exactly how it did when I first went in there.
But my faith was restored in upscale salons when I went to Lewis and Co Hair Designs. This incident happened back in 2006 and it still erks me. Now, I cannot speak for any other negative experiences other reviewers have had, but I have been going to this salon continuously since then, and have always gotten exactly what I want every time. When I first went there I had Angie. She was amazing, I had told her about my mishap with the other salon, and she was just amazed that someone could actually have the audacity to treat their clients that way. At the time I had outrageously long and thick hair, and was trying to add something edgy to it, but keeping it really long still. AND OF COURSE FIX THE DYE JOB I HAD GOTTEN AT NEW IMAGE. She was very vocal with me letting me know exactly what she was doing. ALL of the stylists I have been to there are great listeners, and let you know exactly what they are doing and give great suggestions. (I have been to 4) I left there so satisfied with my new cut I felt like a rockstar no joke. The way they do their cuts is they give you the best cut results but remove as little hair as possible unless requested. My hair is super thick and heavy, and she made it feel so weightless but looked like she hardly removed anything. (I know ppl with long hair get really paranoid when they see tons of hair on the floor lol)
The fact that they have 5 levels of stylists is perfect for trying out which stylist is best for you. I use the 2nd level and love it. I have also used the 3rd and 4th and they are great as well. They also have ""workshops"" on Tuesdays for the Master stylists to educate the lower level stylists, and they take clients at a discounted rate. Its not like going to a beauty college though, they are way more advanced than that. I believe the workshops are mainly for the salon to get up do date on the latest trends and share tips and tricks with eachother.
When you are a new client they LOAD you with stuff including a $10 gift certificate, samples, and whatnot.
I love this place and will never go elsewhere. They are ALL great stylists and I have seen what they can do. If you want a trendy cut or color, and what to look like u got rockstar hair, this is the place for you. I am CONSTANTLY getting compliments on my unique hair. Shouts to Raquel, Stephanie, and Angie!!!
