I hired a truck to haul a partial load of nursery to this company from Oregon in early April of this year. (2011) The freight was to be collected COD payable to the trucking company that hauled it. When the truck delivered the driver was given a check for the freight and the driver left for his next delivery. Approximately 2 hours later Marie Bermudez, the VP of American Wholesale called me and said there was no funds to cover the freight check and asked me not to cash it. I asked the carrier to hold it for 1 week because Marie thought they would have the money for it. When the week was up I called Marie and still no funds. So, I had the trucking company send me the bad check and I paid the truck what was owed to them for the haul. I took it to there bank seeing as how the agreement was COD freight. I sent an invoice to American Wholesale early in April of this year and have received nothing from them but one lie after another. I have no idea how they have been in business as long as they have. They are also affiliated with Whitman Nurseries in Huntington Station, NY.
