Review content:
I took my engagement ring to elmquist to have an appraisal done for insurance purposes. They told me it would be $100 dollars to appraise my 1.25 carat diamond solitaire. I was then told it would take 5-7 days and that they would call when it was finished. 7 days later I still hadn?t received a call from them. I called and was told that my ring and appraisal had been done for 3 days and that I could come in to pick them up. When I received my appraisal, it had no measurements included, they stated the diamond was smaller than it actually was (which translated to a decreased total value of the ring), they said that the diamond was damaged they also failed to use GIA standard terminology. This appraisal probably took about 2 minutes for them to do. I have since talked to two people who have had their rings appraised with these people (one of which has a similar ring to mine and the other had 3 bands with many diamonds) and they both told me their appraisals cost them around $65. I was unable to insure my ring due to it being ?damaged? as the appraisal stated so I was told to get a second opinion. I took it to two other GIA certified gemologists at different stores and was told by both that the diamond was not damaged and that it was in fact 1.25 carats. One of the jewelers even took the diamond out of the setting and showed me that it was not damaged and also weighed it front of me so I could see the reading. I called elmquist and told them about my unhappiness. They were rude from the start. One woman started arguing with me and told me I didn?t know what I was talking about. She finally gave up and told me ?bring me my appraisals and you can have your money back then.? I brought the appraisal in to them and was treated very disrespectfully and I was even ignored by some of the staff. I was then told that both of my other appraisals were wrong and that theirs was right. As I was leaving the store the man that had refunded my money yelled in front of everyone (staff and customers) that I was in the wrong. If I was wrong then why did I get my money back??? I would highly recommend that you save yourself some money and hassle by taking your business elsewhere. This place just isn?t worth it!
