Review content:
My sister and I decided to have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory in Chestnut Hill, MA yesterday. We were seated fairly promptly as the restaurant was not that busy. However, we waited maybe 30 minutes and still, our waiter (who we saw walk by a few times), did not bother asking if we wanted drinks or appetizers. In fact, after 30 minutes, he did not even introduce himself or say it would just be a little while longer. We watched as the women around us were served their food, and still, my sister and I kept waiting. After 30 minutes, another group of women were seated right next to us and he promptly took their orders, while walking right by my table. At that point, my sister and I decided to leave. I don't know if we were not served because unlike the women all around us, we don't have blonde hair and blue eyes (in fact, we are not even white), or if there's some other less-convincing reason. But she and I were at least expecting to receive some service at this establishment and not treated as if we did not exist. I've never spoken to management about anything concerning problems with service before, but this incident was just too blatant to be kept quiet. I went to speak with the staff behind the counter, but they were not of much help. They simply said, ""Sorry"", and that was that. In this day and age, I'm frankly appalled that behavior like this is still occurring. Of course, this mentality manifests itself in more subtle ways at times, but this time, it just seemed a little too obvious. I was born and raised in the area where this restaurant is, and have never complained or felt prejudice growing up my hometown. This was very disturbing. Pros: The restaurant was clean and we were seated promptly. Hostess was very nice. Cons: Everyone sitting around was being served except for us.
