Review content:
Woodford county sports are only set up for the rich. Lower income children don't have a chance in the dark. I am 32 yrs.old and I have been around sports all my life and never seen anything like this. The parents of this town have ruined these kids. First of all the cost to play is $75. What does this go to really? I bet you didn't know that in a much bigger town 10 minutes away it only costs $30 to play. Why is that? And in case you haven't noticed in Woodford County there is the really rich or really poor so who do you think will win this fight? If your child is good enough to play on one of these traveling teams. It's an automatic $300 plus the cost of hotels every weekend. From what I hear some of these trips are far away. When I played the majorty of places we played were in Lexington and surrounding counties, thus giving some of the lower income families a better chance in participating. Why don't we help build stronger and better leagues in this area first. Before we take on the world. This is not a necessity by the age of ten. Save all that for later in life when it's really going to matter and mean something to them. It's not only the cost that really gets to me. Some of these parents ruining thier children and they don't even realize it. There going to wake up one day wonder why little Timmy won't play catch. Some of these kids won't even make it to play high school sports. They are being pushed so early and so hard. I have seen first hand parents pushing children to the point of crying and asking what they have done wrong and all they get is you need to try harder, when they are already giving 100%. Parents need to relax and realize their are very few that really have that something special and when that one comes along they will know it because when they do they won't need to be pushed or hounded. They will do it because they love it. That's what life is all about anyway isn't it? Finding something that you love and doing it.
