Review content:
I wish I had seen these reviews before we hired Premier to remodel our pool. Unfortunately, we only check the State Licensing Board to make sure there were no complaints against them legally. I have dealt with many contractors for several projects around our house, and I have NEVER had the problems like I did with Premier. The only bright spot was Tony, our salesperson, who was great about staying in touch with me and following up on problems. But everyone and everything else was just a disaster. The workmen who showed up to do the actual labor were sloppy, disrespectful, and lazy. Their tile work was very poor. One worker WALKED INTO MY HOUSE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE to plug an extension cord. I came downstairs to find my back door left wide open--and my 2 indoor cats and my dog had escaped. When asked why he had entered my house and used an inside plug instead of the outlet on the patio, he claimed the outdoor one didn't work. However, my husband tested it later and the outdoor plug worked just fine. When I complained about him entering my house without my permission, I was NOT given an apology but instead told that I irresponsible for not keeping my doors locked!!! The workers also left their lunch garbage all over my yard. One worker also littered the grass with his cigarette butts. My dog got out and ate a few of the cigarette butts before I could stop her. When I complained to our foreman about this, he laughed and said that he could get my dog a nicotine patch!!!!!! But the worst part of the whole experience was that Premier breached their contract with us by demanding that we pay upfront before the work was completed. Our contract clearly stated that the project would be paid for in 3 intsallment payments, each due UPON completion of each phase of the job. The first payment was fine-- they came and ripped out our old concrete and plaster and then I paid them the first part. HOWEVER, when they called to schedule the next part of the job, I was told that I needed to give them the second installment BEFORE they would start working that morning. When I told them I wasn't going to pay them before they'd done the work, I was then told that if they workmen showed up and I didn't pay them, they would call off the job for that day and then I would be charged an additional $500 for having to call off the workers!!!!!! The same thing happened with the third installment. I was threatened with an additional $500 charge if I did not pay before the work was done. I wish I had had the presence of mind to get this in writing or call a lawyer at that point....but I was stuck with an unfinished pool and panicked at the thought that they might walk away and we'd have to find someone else to finish the job. I attempted to file a complaint with the CSLB but-- while they were sympathetic and said that Premier's business practices were definitely against code-- they could do nothing since I didn't have any proof in writing. So, my only recourse is to spread the word and hope that people read it and don't get stuck like we did. In the end, they did complete the job and it is passable. But it is not nearly good enough to justify having to put up with the rudeness of the customer service person or the substandard level of work. This is a company with no pride in workmanship or a sense of ethics. Please do not use them! Give your business to an ethical company who cares about their service, work quality, and customers! Pros: Not many Cons: Just about everything!
