I own a 2009 KIA Amanti, with 28000 miles on it. During the Hours between Thursday October 20 and Friday the 21st My7 Sunroof exploded. The Vehicle was parked next to My Mobile Home in Seminole under a Carport. I was in bed sleeping. I walked out in the morning and there was debris all over the hood of the car,I looked at the Carport roof,it was fine, then I saw the shattered Sunroof,it had blown upward, when it mushroomed it threw shards of glass all over the car, including the trunk. I drove to Lokey KIA in Clearwater, the Service Writer & Technician looked at the damage and debris and agreed it did indeed explode. The bottom line--The new glass was ordered, I requested that it be covered under KIA 'S 5 Year,60,000 mile Warranty,They said They would try. The Service Manager called and advised They WOULD NOT Cover It. Not Their fault, but Mine. I asked to speak with someone Higher Up, They gave Me an 800 number for KIA Headquarters in Irvine Calif. They assigned a Case #. Several days later the Regional Service & Parts Manager advised it WOULD NOT be covered under the warranty. The new glass is now installed and My Bill was $628.00. I'm not a Happy Camper!!! If You ""Google"" Exploding Sunroofs, You'll find it happens quite often. both KIA & HYUNDAI have a history of not honoring Their Warranty on Sunroofs. Thanks for listening to My Tail of Woe!
