Although the Zephyr is an art gallery too, I would put it more in the Coffeehouse category.
This is, by far, my favorite coffeehouse in Pasadena. This beautifully remodeled Craftsman home is the perfect place to read, journal or hang out with friends. The candlelit outdoor patio is amazing, and the owner is an exceptionally gifted gardener whose cut flowers are on display all over the coffeehouse. The coffee & crepes are really good as well!
The art displayed is generally understated and sophisticated and remarkably better than the novice art that is usually displayed in other coffeehouses I have encountered.
If you want something edgy, go somewhere else.
