Review content:
First time I went to Khana Peeena, I was a bit reluctant - I saw one bad review suggesting the food was not fresh (and needing to go to the bathroom after). Then I realized they opened a branch just in front of another good Indian restaurant, so I took the chance (as it looked clean and nice from the outside). That has been 4 months ago. I live nearby and it has become my favorite restaurant. I go there at least once a week (and that's a lot, considering the variety of restaurants around). Since then, I brought a lot of friends and we all agreed - great value for your money. This is were I go when I feel like ""home cooking"" (and I am not an Indian). Service is great, sometimes a bit slow (but not more than you'd expect from an Indian restaurant). P.S. - This review refers Rockridge branch (the one on college). Another thing - I eat mostly vegeterian food - they have a huge list of great vegeterian dishes. My friends tried, of course, the other non-vegeterian dishes and loved them. I can only tell about the vgeterian part of the menu (and I LOVED the naans). Bottom line: my favorite Indian restaurant in the bay area! Pros: Food, atmosphere, service and price! Cons: very rarely service may be a bit slow (happened once, when I had a late lunch)
