Review content:
It's unfortunate to have to post a negative review for a spot with such consistently good food, but my experience at K24 today was so terrible, I had to say something. After work my friend and I trekked to Hollywood specifically to eat at K24. When we walked in at 2:45pm, the restaurant was almost empty except for one couple looking extremely unhappy. My friend even commented on how miserable they looked. After we sat down, it took almost ten minutes for our server, Beauden, to notice us and come take our drink orders. We also ordered our food, a veggie burger and a bowl of veggie chili, right away because we were starving. Our drinks came... we drank them... and sat... and sat... and sat. Finally our server came back and said the food would be out soon. We ordered another round of drinks since ours were already gone. It was now 3:28 and no food on the table. (I only know the times because I'm a server, so when it started to feel unreasonable I checked, to make sure we weren't just grumpy and hungry. I'm not in the habit of timing my meals). While we waited, we watched the unhappy couple send their food back to be packed to-go as soon as it came out, pay for drinks, and leave very clearly pissed off. Our chili came out while we were waiting on the second drink, which took them over ten minutes to make. We didn't get the drink until our chili was gone. Finally, over a half hour after we ordered, our burger came out. We asked for mustard... it never came. Our server wouldn't make eye contact or stop at our table. Finally we said loudly as he passed by ""excuse me, could we please have mustard"" and he throws two to-go packets of heinz yellow mustard down without a word. Mind you, the place is still almost empty. By the time the mustard came we were pretty much done eating. Then the wait to get the check began. Our waiter continued to ignore us. In absolute frustration I asked the bartender if we could talk to a manager. The manager, Reid, was apparently sitting at the bar chatting with his friend as customers were leaving, obviously angry about the time food was taking. He begrudgingly got up, came over, and asked what was wrong. I explained that the food was great and we, as servers ourselves, hated to complain, but the time it took to get food and drinks was a bummer. I didn't even mention our server ignoring us or the mustard, just the amount of time we waited to eat. He said ""well, the bar was low on tequila so they had to run and get some. That's why your drinks were slow. Let me go ask the kitchen about the food."" He then walked away, went to the host stand, and stood there talking to the hostess until we left. Our server dropped the check and we had to flag him down to get change. He then threw the change on the table without a word. On the way out I asked if there was a way I could reach the GM and Reid handed me the restaurant business card and said ""He's out of town. What's your name?"" I introduced myself and asked again if the manager had a personal business card and he said ""if you want to call in 12 days he'll be back by then. Bye bye Allison"". Hands down the worst customer service I have EVER had in a restaurant. No matter how good the food or drinks are, I'll never go back. Getting crap service during a rush is one thing, and I'd never complain about that. Getting crap service at 3pm when it's dead and then being treated poorly by management is something else entirely. Which is sad, because the chili is really great.
